Law firm website design that earns trust.
It is nine at night and someone has just been served with a letter of demand. They are in the car, phone in hand, reading firm after firm. They are not comparing credentials. They are looking for a name, a face, and a sentence they understand. Your website has that moment, or it does not.
Halim & Tan, a firm we imagined
Halim & Tan is not a real firm. The lawyers are invented. The site is a complete build, made to show what calm and credible looks like on a legal page.
What it costs
A single page, partners named, practice areas listed and contact clear, starts at RM1,000. Most firms want more room than that: a page per practice area, profiles for each lawyer, fees explained and a proper contact page. That is the RM2,800 plan, and it is where most land. Letterhead, cards and signage designed alongside the site is RM5,500.
Every price is fixed and in writing before any work begins, and the domain, the site and the content stay yours. The full breakdown is on the pricing page, and there is a longer answer in what a website costs in Malaysia.
What a law firm website actually needs
Every lawyer named, with the year they were admitted
A firm page that says "our team of experienced lawyers" tells a worried person nothing. Name each advocate and solicitor, give the year of admission to the Malaysian Bar, the courts they appear in, and the work they actually do. That is what expertise looks like on a page.
Practice areas written for the frightened, not the qualified
"Contentious probate" means nothing to a person whose father has died and whose siblings have stopped speaking. Say what the matter is in the words a client would use, then name it properly underneath. Every area, from conveyancing to employment disputes, deserves that one plain sentence.
Fees explained before anyone has to ask
Most people are as frightened of the bill as of the matter. Say which work carries a fixed fee, which is billed hourly, where a set scale applies, as it does in conveyancing, and what a first consultation costs, including if it is free. You will lose fewer clients, not more.
Copy that stays inside the Bar’s publicity rules
The Malaysian Bar’s publicity rules limit how a firm may advertise itself, and words like "best" or "leading" sit badly with them. That is not a handicap. Describing the work you do, plainly and without comparison, reads as more credible anyway. We write to that line and stay behind it.
A first screen that lowers someone’s pulse
Distress makes people scan, not read. Clean type, generous space, a real photograph of the office, and one sentence saying what the firm does. No stock gavels, no scales of justice, no dark blue gradients. Calm is the whole design brief, and it is harder than it sounds.
Contact that works at eleven at night
A form that disappears into an inbox is not contact. Put the office line, a WhatsApp number, the address with a map link, and a plain promise: we reply within one working day. If after-hours messages are read the next morning, say that too.
What goes wrong
- Calling the firm "the best" or "the leading" anything. It reads as marketing to a client and sits badly with the Malaysian Bar’s publicity rules, which is a poor trade for a sentence nobody believes.
- Practice areas written in pure legalese. A person facing retrenchment searches for "wrongful dismissal", not "industrial relations advisory", and will leave a page that cannot meet them in their own words.
- No named individuals at all. A site that says "our lawyers" without a single name, photograph or year of admission gives a worried client nothing to trust and no reason to choose you.
- Stock photographs of gavels. They are not used in Malaysian courts, so the picture at the top of the page is announcing that nobody involved has been inside one.
- Total silence on fees. The client assumes the worst, calls a firm that published a consultation rate instead, and you never learn the enquiry existed.
Questions partners ask
Will a website breach the Bar’s publicity rules?
Not if it is written with them in mind. The Malaysian Bar’s publicity rules allow a firm to state who it is, who works there and what work it does. What they restrain is self-promotion: superlatives, comparisons, claims of being better than other firms. We are designers, not your compliance adviser, so your partners approve every line before it goes live.
Do we have to publish our fees?
No, and most firms do not publish a full scale. But saying nothing costs you enquiries. Naming what a first consultation costs, and saying which matters are quoted as a fixed fee and which are billed hourly, is usually enough. People are not looking for the cheapest firm. They are looking for one that will not surprise them.
What does a law firm website cost in Malaysia?
A one-page firm site with partner profiles and contact starts from RM1,000. Most firms land on RM2,800, which covers a page for each practice area, a profile for every lawyer, fees, and a contact page. Brand and site together, letterhead and cards through to the website, is RM5,500. Fixed prices, agreed in writing before work starts.
Who writes the content, us or you?
You write the substance, we shape it. Nobody outside the firm should be describing your practice areas or your track record, and we will not invent either. Usually a partner sends rough notes and old profiles, we turn them into plain English, and the firm checks every word. It is a few hours of your time, not days.
Should a law firm use WhatsApp for enquiries?
Most Malaysian firms already do, and clients expect it. The care is in what happens next: a first message is an enquiry, not instructions, and no matter should be discussed in detail until conflicts are checked and the client is engaged. We put the number where people can find it and let the firm set the rest.
Talk to us about your firm.
Send a message and say what the firm does and what is not working on the site now. You will get a straight answer from the person who would build it, and a fixed price in writing.
See another trade.
Every one of these is a whole website we imagined from scratch. None is a client. Yours would be drawn around your own story.
