/ CAFE WEBSITE DESIGN

Cafe website design, done properly.

Most people find a cafe on their phone, standing on a five-foot way, deciding whether to walk in. A cafe website has about ten seconds to answer where you are, when you are open, and whether the coffee is any good. Here is what that takes, and what it costs.

Kanopi, a cafe we imagined

Kanopi is not a real cafe. We designed and built the whole thing, menu and opening hours and all, so you can judge the work instead of taking our word for it.

What it costs

A one-page cafe site, built properly and found on Google, starts from RM1,000. Most cafes want a menu, a story, a gallery, and a contact section, which is the RM2,800 plan and where the best value sits. Brand and site together, logo through to the finished website, is RM5,500.

Every price is fixed and in writing before any work begins, and the domain, the site and the content stay yours. The full breakdown is on the pricing page, and there is a longer answer in what a website costs in Malaysia.

What a cafe website actually needs

01

A menu you can change yourself

Beans rotate, prices move, the kitchen drops a dish. If updating the menu means messaging your designer and waiting two days, it will quietly go stale and stop being worth reading. Yours should be editable by you, in plain text that Google can actually read.

02

Opening hours that are true everywhere

The hours on your site, your Google listing, and your door all need to agree. Nothing costs a cafe more goodwill than someone driving over on a public holiday to find the shutter down. We set the site and the Google Business Profile together so they never drift apart.

03

The room, photographed honestly

Stock photos of latte art belong to nobody. Pictures of your actual room, your actual counter, and the light at 4pm tell someone whether this is a place they want to sit for an hour. This is the single biggest difference between a cafe site that works and one that does not.

04

Directions that open in one tap

An address is not directions. A tap that opens Waze or Google Maps with your pin already dropped is the difference between a visit and a maybe, especially anywhere parking is a question.

05

Built for a phone first, on mobile data

Your visitor is outdoors, one-handed, and possibly on patchy 4G. We build to Google’s "good" threshold of 2.5 seconds to largest contentful paint, because a cafe site that takes six seconds has already lost to the shop next door.

06

A reason to come back

Instagram is where people follow you; the site is where they decide. Linking the two properly, so your feed shows on the page and your page is in your bio, means the audience you already have can actually find your hours.

What goes wrong

  • The menu as a PDF or a flat JPEG. Google cannot read the text inside it, and neither can a phone without pinching and zooming.
  • Opening hours that live only in an Instagram story, which vanishes in 24 hours.
  • No Google Business Profile, or one nobody has claimed. For a cafe this is the single biggest free win available, and it is more valuable than the website on day one.
  • A site built as one big exported image. It looks fine and ranks for nothing, because there is no text on the page at all.
  • Somebody else owning your domain. If you part ways with your designer, you should keep the address, the site, and the photos.

Questions cafe owners ask

Do I need a website if my cafe is already on Instagram and Google Maps?

Google Maps matters more than the website on day one, and you should claim it first. But Maps and Instagram are both rented land: they decide what shows and to whom. A small site is the one place that is yours, where your menu, hours, and story sit together and can be found by someone who is not already following you.

Can I update the menu and hours myself?

Yes, and you should be able to without calling anyone. We set it up so prices, items, and hours are yours to edit. If a site cannot be updated by the person who runs the shop, it will go out of date within a month.

How long does a cafe website take?

Usually two to four weeks from the first conversation, and most of that is waiting on words and photographs rather than the build. If you already have good pictures of the room, it moves faster.

What does a cafe website cost in Malaysia?

A properly built one-page cafe site starts from RM1,000. Most cafes that want a menu, a story, gallery, and a contact section land on the RM2,800 plan. If you need the brand designed too, logo through to the site, that is RM5,500. Those are fixed prices, quoted in writing before any work starts.

Do I need online ordering?

Usually not, and we will say so. Most Malaysian cafes do better with a beautiful menu, a WhatsApp link, and their existing delivery platforms than with a full ordering system they have to maintain. If your volume genuinely calls for it, we will tell you that too.
