Do you need a website if you already have Instagram?
Short answer: yes, if you want to be found on Google, be taken seriously, and actually own your audience. Instagram is a brilliant start, but it is rented land. Here is when a website earns its keep, and when your Instagram is genuinely enough for now.
Instagram is rented land
Instagram is wonderful for showing your work and meeting people, but you do not own any of it. The account, the followers, and how many of them ever see a post all belong to Instagram, and the rules change whenever it suits them. Lose access to the account, or watch your reach quietly drop, and there is very little you can do about it.
A website is land you own. Your own address on the internet, your words, your photos, working the way you decided, for as long as you keep it. Nobody can switch it off or bury it in a feed.
What a website does that Instagram cannot
Three things, mostly. It gets you found on Google, where people go when they are ready to buy rather than just scrolling. It makes you look established, because a real business at its own address reads very differently from a profile anyone can make in five minutes. And it gives people a calm place to understand what you do, see your work or your prices, and get in touch, without fighting an algorithm to see it.
Instagram answers "do I like this?" A website answers "can I trust them, and how do I hire them?" Most people need both before they spend real money.
When Instagram alone is genuinely fine
If you are just starting, testing an idea, or running something small and personal, Instagram on its own is a perfectly honest place to begin. There is no shame in it, and we would tell you so rather than sell you a site you do not need yet. The moment to add a website is when people start asking "do you have a website?", when you want to be found by people who are not already following you, or when you are simply ready to be taken seriously as a business.
The honest middle
For most small businesses the sweet spot is not one or the other. It is Instagram for showing up day to day, plus one simple, well-built page that Google can find and that makes you look real. That one page can start from around RM1,000, and it turns your Instagram from your whole shopfront into just the window.
